International Ballet Academy is pleased to feature Emma Paluszak in its November 2017 Student Spotlight. Emma was chosen by the IBA Directors and Contemporary faculty and choreographers for her hard work and progress in Contemporary classes and rehearsals, as well as being a “dedicated, responsible understudy” for company roles.
Emma began her study of dance at the age of 5 and has trained at International Ballet Academy with Vlada Kysselova, Victoria Yanchuck, Irina Ushakova, Alexander Tressor, Lena Forster, Juliana Jordan, Liz Blackwood, Gordon Owens, Naina Dewan, and others. In addition to ballet, she studies or has studied Contemporary, Modern, Musical Theatre, and Jazz. Emma dances with the International Ballet Junior Company. Her roles include Waltz of the Flowers, Party Girl and Boy, Cupid, Polichinelle, Soldier, Angel and Baby Mouse in The Nutcracker, the Queen’s Attendant in Swan Lake Act III, in the Waltz of the Hours from Coppélia at Greenville’s Artisphere, and in numerous roles in Storytime Ballet with the Greenville County Library, including that of Ella Bella in Ella Bella Ballerina and Swan Lake. She also performed with the International Ballet Academy Studio Performance Group, her most notable role being the Lilac Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty. She will perform in International Ballet’s upcoming concert, L’Automne, in the “Parrot Dance” from La Bayadere and in “Winter” in the world premiere of Alexander Tressor’s Four Seasonings. In addition to Waltz, she will perform in Snow and as Maid in International Ballet’s 2017 production of The Nutcracker with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra.
Emma has attended summer programs at Ballet Magnificat (2015, 2016, 2017), Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and International Ballet Academy. She is a member of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. She is an 8th grade student with Mother of Divine Grace School, an accredited classical distance learning program based in Ojai, CA. She serves on the Student Council at Vanguard Homeschool Academy. She volunteers weekly at Sunday morning hospitality and with the youth group at her church and enjoys sewing, playing the piano, and singing. She is the youngest of six children and the daughter of John and Emily Paluszak of Greenville.
