Each month the IBA Career & College Guidance Program features one student in its Student Spotlight. For the month of March, 2017, each member of the IBA teaching faculty was asked to nominate students from ballet levels II-V to be featured this month. We are pleased to announce that the faculty-selected dancer for Student Spotlight for March, 2017 is Grace Sargent. Grace was chosen for her hard work and progress in her dance studies this year.
Grace began her study of dance at age 3. Developing a passion for ballet, she enrolled at IBA 2 ½ years ago and has studied under Lena Forster, Liz Blackwood, and Naina Dewan. She has performed in International Ballet’s The Nutcracker with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra in the roles of Polichinelle, Soldier, Angel, and Baby Mouse. In 2017 she joined IBA’s Studio Performance Group and will perform in the group’s version of Swan Lake as a Noblewoman and Swan in May. She has been accepted to International Ballet Academy’s Summer Intensive for 2017.
Grace is a 4th grade student at Mountain View Elementary School, where she maintains straight A’s, takes Challenge classes, and sings in the Mountain View Choir. She participates in the Tiger Tutor Program in which she mentors and tutors a young student. She is also an active members of her church’s Worship Team and Girls’ Club. She is artistic and enjoys drawing and writing stories. She is the daughter of James and Tara Sargent, and her little brother, Matthew, is her biggest fan! She looks forward to starting pointe this summer.
