The IBA Career & College Guidance Program is please to feature Anna Ohi in its Student Spotlight for December, 2016! Anna was chosen by her peers and IBA's directors as an example of a good role model with an admirable work ethic from among the students in the Upper Division. Anna is a Ballet III-B student.
Anna began her study of dance at age 4 and has studied at IBA under Lena Forster, Vlada Kysselova, Cara Marie Gary, Amy Deshong, Hennadii Bespechnyi, Kelsey Crum, Madison Kellough, Ashley Martin, Irina Ushakova, Juliana Jordan, Victoria Yanchuck, and Alexander Tressor. In addition to ballet, Anna also takes classes in contemporary. She has performed in International Ballet’s The Nutcracker in numerous roles, including Party Child, Soldier, Polichinelle, and Baby Mouse. She will perform in the 2016 production as a Cupid and, in the school show, as Young Clara. She also danced with IBA’s Studio Performance Group in its versions of the Sleeping Beauty (Aurora), Don Quixote (Cupid, friend), Giselle (friend, wili, understudy for Kitri), Snow White (Dopey), and Coppélia (Spanish doll). She appeared with International Ballet as a queen’s assistant in Storytime Ballet- Ella Bella Ballerina & the Sleeping Beauty at the Greenville County Library.
Anna has attended International Ballet Academy’s Summer Intensive for four years and has been accepted to the Kirov Academy of Ballet’s Summer Intensive. She has volunteered with IBA’s Summer Dance Camps. She speaks Japanese and is a student at Riverside Middle School, where she
is on the A/B Honor Roll. She enjoys cooking, baking, playing the French horn, and watching YouTube videos of her favorite dancers. She lives in Greer with her parents, Tac and Rika Ohi.
