Student Spotlight for September, 2016!

Student Spotlight is back!  For the month of September, IBA’s directors chose one student from the academy as “One to Watch” in 2016-2017.   The IBA Career & College Guidance Program is pleased to feature Sophia Brown in its Student Spotlight for September, 2016.

Sophie began her study of dance at the age of 3 at Lake Erie Ballet, where she danced for six years, and she then studied at the Patterson School of Ballet under Michael Patterson and Carrie Frase. Upon moving to the Upstate with her family in 2015, Sophie enrolled at International Ballet Academy studying under Vlada Kysselova, Victoria Yanchuck, Lena Forster, and with Juliana Jordan for contemporary and Naina Dewan for modern.  She performed various roles in Lake Erie’s The Nutcracker, and as a party child, soldier, and polichinelle in International Ballet’s 2015 production of the The Nutcracker with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra.  She has attended summer programs at the Patterson School of Ballet and International Ballet Academy.

Sophia is a 6th grade student at Riverside Middle School, where she is an A Honor Roll student.  She is a member of the Beta Club and a Woodland Elementary Art Award recipient.  She lives with her parents, Steve and Michelle Brown, in Greer.
